I bought a new computer on a black Friday sale to run the CAD rendering program. Moving from Windows 10 to 11, reinstalling software made me aware of what and where I’m putting computer files. Even though I run everything in Dropbox there was old content on One Drive I didn’t know was there.

This may be a quiet week…as you get ready to gather for the holiday celebrations. As we wrap up our year may I make some biz-keeping suggestions….

Last year I started tracking subscriptions in my google calendar after a membership automatically billed me without notice. ARGH!! If you’re running a membership it’s a good business practice to set up an autoresponder telling a member it’s going to renew.

Now I set the tasks in my calendar 30 days ahead of renewal so the reminder pops up telling me the subscription is due in 30 days. This allows me to reflect on whether the subscription is still a yes, needs to be tweaked or even canceled.

Last month my Vimeo subscription was coming up for renewal… Vimeo hosts the videos for my courses. I overbought in storage (it’s in a little blue box on the left hand side)…yet Vimeo wouldn’t let me downgrade the subscription so I canceled it. Let it expire and then renewed at a much lower rate, saved $183.

Year End Biz-keeping Suggestions:

  1. Revisit business programs (video, shopping cart, autoresponder, etc.) you use to see if you really need that much power.
  2. Clean up your email list and let go of people who have unsubscribed. You’re making room for new ideas and people to invite into your community.
  3. Reflect on your freebies are they still fresh or do they need to be tweaked. Put that in your calendar to work on.
  4. Subscriptions: When you pay an annual bill at the same time make a task note in your calendar program to remind you a month before that program renews the following year. That gives you ample time to reflect on whether that software is meeting your needs or give you time to research new programs.
  5. Off load files on your computer taking up hard drive space and port the files to the cloud or an external drive.
  6. If you’re on WordPress go through and look at the plugins to see if they’re meeting your needs.
  7. Go through files gathering up paperwork to shred at the end of the year. Get it up and out of your office.

May you have the grace and space to create in 2025…. by honoring the pathway you’ve walked to get to this moment.
